Health Minister Manto Tshabalala-Msimang plans to stall an R800-million grant to fight the AIDS pandemic in KwaZulu-Natal because "proper application procedures were not followed".

The South African government is allegedly trying to block a grant awarded by the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria to the KwaZulu-Natal province, saying that the province should not have approached the fund directly.

A new training curriculum "Transforming Health Systems: Gender and Rights in Reproductive Health" is now available from the World Health Organisation. "Transforming Health Systems" is the product of a five-year collaborative process between WHO, the South African Women's Health Project and the Center for Health and Human Rights at the Harvard School of Public Health.
