Swaziland's uphill struggle for safe sex campaign

The first survey of Swazis' sexual behaviour and attitudes toward HIV/AIDS has found that high awareness of the pandemic has not translated into less risk-taking behaviour, and that HIV-positive people remain unwilling to admit their status.

Dr Tenzin Namdul, a senior member of the Medical & Astrological Institute in Dharamsala, India and a qualified doctor in the Tibetan healing tradition is visiting South Africa during February. He will be giving talks on "The Power of Tibetan Medicine" at various venues in KwaZulu-Natal.

Durban man's legacy of love

Victor Daitz was a quiet Durban businessman who chose a life out of the limelight and was not one to boast about his achievements or his wealth. This could have been different, because the man who saw out the last of his 86 years in a flat in Cato Road, Durban, was worth more than R100 million. Daitz died in 1999, and this week hundreds of children in Ndwedwe, a rural area about 60k north of Durban, joined the many underprivileged who have celebrated his legacy.

A limited number of copies of "Just a Little Smile" is available for distribution to groups and networks working with young people and children affected by HIV/AIDS. This 25-minute, professionally made documentary was produced by Madoda Ncaciyana from Vuleka Productions in Durban, South Africa, as a pilot project to sensitise and train young people to respond to the psycho-social needs of vulnerable children and caregivers.
