Most mid-sized South African companies are turning a blind eye to HIV/AIDS, despite forecasts that the epidemic is set to ravage the country's workforce, a new report by a leading global accounting and financial services firm has said.

The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) HIV/AIDS treatment project this week received a US $50 million boost from the United States government to conduct research into the impact of anti-AIDS drugs on the military.

The Society for Family Health (SFH) has launched a social marketing campaign for Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) aimed at changing the perception that HIV testing is only for the sick and encouraging all South Africans to regularly test for HIV.
