Food parcels are finally being offered to HIV positive mothers in KwaZulu-Natal who want to exclusively breastfeed their babies as part of a new government policy.


New clinical trials unit established at UKZN

A consortium of researchers from CAPRISA, the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) and Aurum Health were recently awarded a core grant of over $10million for seven years by the NIH to establish a new clinical trials unit (CTU) for HIV prevention and treatment research.

The lunch time conversation was about crime, yet again. It€™s so easy to complain about the lack of action taken by our government in combating crime, and yes, most of us feel that there is nothing we can do about it. Sure, we can pack up and leave, but there is obviously something that holds us here, why else are we still here? Perhaps it is because we know that our country is worth saving and we are unsure of how to go about achieving this, or maybe it is complacency and waiting for the next person to carry the load. If it is the former, then there is a way we can make a difference.


Selenium may have critical role in HIV treatment

Selenium is being research-ed for its critical role in the treatment of HIV/AIDS, according to Margie Hardman, who in 2001 founded the Aids Care, Training and Support initiative - a community-based palliative care clinic serving a rural population in a remote area of Mpumalanga.
