Frequent use of sexual lubricants containing the spermicide nonoxonyl-9 (N-9) by women at high risk of contracting HIV, increases the risk of HIV infection, a new study suggests.

The largest study in the world aimed at stemming the numbers of HIV-positive mothers dying of sepsis after the birth of their babies is to be undertaken in KwaZulu-Natal and Transkei.

South Africa is sitting on an HIV/AIDS orphan time-bomb that is threatening to blow up into a crime and civil unrest wave of massive proportions. We can expect three million children to be orphaned within the next ten years.
