The South African Department of Correctional Services (DCS) has announced plans to undertake a survey of HIV prevalence in the nation's 240 prisons.


Putting microbicides to the test

Thousands of women in South Africa and elsewhere have volunteered for the world's largest clinical trials to test the efficacy of a range of microbicides, that, if successful, could prevent at least 2,5 million new infections in the developing world, over the next five years.

The Stop TB Partnership has declared March 24 th, 2006 "World TB Day" to mobilize support and raise awareness about TB/HIV as a global health issues.

The slow rollout of antiretrovirals in KwaZulu-Natal has prompted the Southern African Clothing and Textile Workers' Union (SACTWU) to provide antiretroviral treatment for its HIV-positive members.
