Chriselda Kananda was seven months pregnant when she discovered she was HIV-positive in 1997. She has been living healthily and positively without any anti-retroviral treatment ever since. "The first day is your worst nightmare come true, because all you're thinking is, 'I am going to die now'," she told PlusNews.

UNAIDS Executive Director calls for action to protect youth from HIV/AIDS

In a speech before the United Nations General Assembly Special Session on Children, Dr Peter Piot, Executive Director of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), called on governments to expand their efforts to provide HIV prevention and care for young people.

HIV/AIDS vaccine 'here soon'

The world could have an AIDS vaccine in five to six years, says Seth Berkley, President and CEO of the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative. There are currently eight AIDS vaccines in the pipeline and Berkley says he is "excited about them all".
