Description: The Sub-department of Neurology is attached to the Wentworth Hospital which is situated at the Bluff, Durban. It is part of the University of KwaZulu Natal Medical School and acts as a training hospital for postgraduate students in Medicine, Psychiatry and Neurology. The department provides a clinical service for KwaZulu Natal and the northern part of the Eastern Cape (formerly Transkei). At least 5 clinics are run by the Neurology Department - namely a weekly general neurology clinic, a biweekly epilepsy clinic, a monthly neuromuscular clinic, a monthly movement disorders clinic and a weekly stroke clinic.

Description: The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is both a service and teaching department. Its health services and clinical teaching facilities are attached to King Edward VIII Hospital. The obstetric service caters for approximately 14,000 deliveries per year.We serve as a referral base for 8 community clinics in the surrounding areas, which deal with uncomplicated deliveries. Approximately 12 000 deliveries per annum are performed at these clinics under the supervision of the department.
