About Education, Training and Counselling (ETC)

Education, Training and Counselling (ETC) aims to assist organisations to establish, or improve upon existing HIV/AIDS management systems by providing guidance and services to reduce the incidence (number of new infections) of HIV within their organization and effectively manage and
mitigate the current HIV/AIDS epidemic within the organization. (Prevalence).

Our vision is to assist organisations to effectively manage the risk that HIV represents by:

  • Reducing the incidence of HIV by providing researched best practice prevention and
    destigmatisation programmes.
  • Reducing the impact upon those who are already infected by introducing Voluntary
Counselling and Testing and Wellness and Disease Management interventions to
improve quality of life and prolong life, and thus productivity and economic
    sustainability.
  • Providing HIV/AIDS management system guidelines, mentoring and coaching of
managers, peer educators, counsellors and occupational health nurses. By providing
project management of the HIV Quality Management System and evaluation or
    auditing of current programmes.

ETC is by nature and size an SMME and thus, promotes the support of small businesses especially BEE small businesses. Many of our sub contractors are volunteers in their communities and rely upon the ETC contracts as their financial support to carry out their volunteer HIV related work.
We seek to source and train new sub contractors on an ongoing basis as our business increases throughout the country and beyond our borders.

ETC accredited training materials are utilized in training projects that require accredited
training. We contract preferred service providers per project & have the following service
providers available as resources: Project managers/coordinators/administrators; Psychologists; Social workers; Trained lay counsellors; Nurses; Trainers and facilitators; Auditors; Researchers/statisticians; A legal team; Actuaries; PLHWA?s ? People living positively with HIV or AIDS; Pantech ? supplies our HIV rapid test kits ? both screening and confirmatory. We work hand in hand with the Wellness and Disease Management organisation that is affiliated to the organisation?s medical aid provider or will assist the organisation with disease management by providing referral to HIV disease management services or chronic illness management or full medical aid through a number of Disease Management Organisations. Our team?s many and varied skills allow the company to operate successfully within the HIV/AIDS management, training, care and treatment domains, across all cultures, languages and levels of literacy.

The company is built on the principles of best practice benchmarking in HIV/AIDS interventions and behaviour modification for risk reduction. We combine research applications in education, prevention programmes, information and awareness programmes, behaviour modification for risk reduction, HIV testing, HIV and related counselling and positive living with HIV and the related opportunistic illnesses.

All educational interventions are based on researched best practice for achievement of
outcomes.
