Description: The focus of research within the department has been largely HIV related. It has reached acclaim for its work on multivitamin supplementation, breast feeding and antiretroviral therapy in reducing mother to child transimission of HIV. Subspecialty disciplines include neonatology, haematology, nephrology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, cardiology and neurology.The department is attached to King Edward VII hospital, but has in addition service and teaching links with RK Khan, Addington, Wentworth and Prince Mshiyeni Hospitals in the region.

Description: St John's is an Anglican church serving the areas of Pinetown and New Germany. The AIDS ministry is a joint effort with communities in Claremont and KwaNdengezi and Mariannridge. 40 families are supplied with food parcels once a month. We are involved in income generation projects for these families and we try to support existing home based carers, and provide them with further skills.
