Overview

Professor in the School of Psychology. Executive Director of the Child Youth and Family Development (HSRC). Her interests lie in Theory and Application in Child Development; Psycho-social issues related to the health of children, adolescents and women; HIV/AIDS and Methodological issues in socio-behavioural sciences. She is an Honorary professor in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at the University of Witwatersrand. Professor Richter was the Chairperson of the first Research Committee on HIV/AIDS in the Department of Health, and she was on the scientific committee for the International AIDS Conference held in Geneva in 1998. She serves on several research advisory groups, including the Essential National Health Research Committee through appointment by the Minister of Health, and the Advisory Panel on Reproductive Health Research of the Health Systems Trust. Consultant to the Medical Research Council, HIV Prevention Trials Unit; and HAVEG.
