SA AIDS Conference 2003 The AIDS Conference with a Difference, to make a Difference

Durban's ICC will host a South African AIDS Conference this August (3rd to 6th) with a theme of "DIRA SENGWE" TAKE ACTION. Its focus is on the needs and contributions of grassroots organisations, input from community-owned HIV/AIDS initiatives, and the voices and experiences of ordinary people who care about the effects of the epidemic. Over 3000 delegates from overseas, the broader African continent and the southern African region will be attending, and we will feature coverage of the Conference in forthcoming issues of Sondela.

As always, Sondela invites you to share your thoughts, experiences, strengths and contacts with us. Do you have suggestions for more effective networking? Do you have a question for our experts or know of good ways to gain access to treatment and care services? Our readership is growing every month, and all can benefit from your knowledge and your queries.

HIVAN is compiling a database of names, contact details and activity summaries of individuals, organisations, research and networking projects operating in the field of HIV/AIDS in KwaZulu-Natal and beyond.

We want as many people as possible who need this information to use it as a directory. The register is available through our website and in paper form (see the article about the new HIVAN / KZNCAN HIV/AIDS Directory on page 14). If you would like to be listed, or know anyone else who should be included, please contact us. Also, if you wish to receive additional copies of SONDELA, or if you can suggest new drop-off points for the newsletter, do let us know.
