COMING CLOSER ... READERS' FEEDBACK
The Sondela team has received numerous messages of support and interest in response to our first two editions:
Musa Mayisela from the National Community Radio Forum wrote: "Most of our radio stations have received both editions of Sondela. Thanks so much for giving us as NCRF some publicity. This has led to some NGOs being willing to partner with us in a variety of projects".
Patricia Manele from the NCRF Gender Network thought the newsletter was "fabulous", and sent through two useful articles for publication on the HIVAN website on the topic of gender equity. We will publish one of these in the June/July 2003 issue of Sondela.
Emma Mortimer from Thandanani Children's Foundation wrote: "We think Sondela is a wonderful idea, and a lot more informative than some publications currently in circulation."
Thabisile Buthelezi from Edgewood College appealed for more copies to distribute to her students and colleagues, and Phumzile Ndlovu from the WorldVision SA Child Survival Project in Bergville has also told us how useful the newsletter is for their community projects.
Our circulation list has grown rapidly during the last six months, and with very few postal returns, we are pleased to know that Sondela is fulfilling its intended purpose of helping people in coming closer?
As ever, we invite you to share with us your thoughts, experiences, strengths and contacts. Do you have suggestions for more effective networking? A question for our experts? Better ways to gain access to treatment and care services? All our readers can benefit from both your knowledge and your queries.
Join our database and mailing list:
HIVAN is compiling a database of names, contact details and activity summaries of individuals, organisations, research and networking projects operating in the field of HIV/AIDS in KwaZulu-Natal and beyond. We want to make this register available to as many people as possible, so that anyone needing this information can use it as a directory. The register is available through our website and, as funds permit, in paper form. If you would like to be listed, or know anyone else who should be included, please contact us. Also, if you wish to receive additional copies of SONDELA, or if you can suggest new dropoff points for the newsletter, do let us know.
