The annual Durex global sex survey - which found last year that South Africans, of the 41 nations that participated, were the most likely to use pornography as part of their sex lives - has gone live on the Durex website for its 2005 edition.
"We really need the nation to 'do it' online for their country for South Africa to be represented in the global results," local Durex spokesperson Jo Giles said.
This is the ninth annual survey and for South Africa to be included in the results, at least 1 000 people need to complete the online questionnaire.
Durex is said to be the world's leading condom manufacturer and the survey provides the company with information from its 50 country-specific websites about sexual attitudes and behaviours.
The questions focus on sex education, sexually transmitted infections and sexual experiences and lifestyles.
Last year 350 000 people participated, 4 000 of them from South Africa.
The target market for the survey is the 16 to 24 age group, but people of all ages are encouraged to participate.
The survey last year found that 58 percent of South Africans had had unprotected sex without knowledge of their partners' sexual history, 78 percent were seriously concerned about HIV/AIDS, and 21 had had no formal sex education.
On the lighter side, it was found that for 75 percent of the South Africans surveyed, their cars were the place where they had sex most often.
The survey may be found at: www.durex.com and the results are to be given on the Durex website in October. |
