Visit of Dr. Abigail Harrison to HIVAN

HIVAN.
HIVAN is pleased to be able to welcome Dr. Abigail Harrison to visit from the 21st February to 8th March 2005. Abigail Harrison is a Research Fellow in the Department of Medicine, and Population Studies and Training Center, Brown University, Providence, USA.

She has worked with the Medical Research Council since 1996, with most of her field work based in Hlabisa. Her work examines young people and sexual risk behaviours in KwaZulu/Natal, with an emphasis on both qualitative and quantitative methods. In addition, she has focused on behavioural interventions to prevent HIV among youth. Her work is published in such journals as AIDS, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Reproductive Health Matters, and Journal of Southern African Studies, among others.

Dr. Harrison received her Ph.D. in Population Studies from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

She will be meeting with HIVAN staff and be presenting at the MRC KZN AIDS Forum during February 2005. Dates for the fora are listed below:
