Million men march - call for participants

Saturday, 27 March 2004 has been set as the date for the Million Men March in Durban, South Africa.

Various sectors of men across the political, religious and age spectra area are being mobilized to make an undertaking to act against women beating, raping women and children and incest, especially omitted under the fallacy and myth that HIV/AIDS can be cured through raping virgins or infants.

The Million Men March is being organized for all men in the country under the aegis of the national Ministry of Health and the underlying theme of the march is HIV/AIDS. The eThekwini Municipality will be hosting the march and thus, KwaZulu-Natal is expected to deliver the majority of participants. There is no political partisanship factored into the objectives or outcomes of the march. All leaders of all faith communities to be part of this march together with all men in their churches, mosques, synagogues and temples.

The theme of the march is: South African Men Care Enough To Act Now

Date: Saturday, 27 March 2004.

Time: 10h00 to 15h30

Venue: The march will proceed from the Durban City Hall down to West Street, across into Aliwal Street and straight into Kings Park Stadium.
