A new publication has been launched by the International HIV/AIDS Alliance, entitled: Working with men, responding to AIDS Gender, sexuality and HIV - A case study collection
What is this publication about?
Across the world, people working on HIV/AIDS now recognise the importance of developing their work with men in order to have a real impact on the epidemic. There is a growing interest in identifying strategies that will be effective in reaching out to different groups of men and enabling them to change their attitudes and behaviour. The Alliance has produced a case study collection in order to help projects to work with men on HIV/AIDS. It presents experiences and lessons from a range of different projects from a number of countries. By showcasing experiences and lessons in the form of case studies, this collection offers inspiration, ideas and models for working with men in a range of contexts.
What is in this publication?
The range of case studies included in this collection is deliberately broad. The 13 case studies not only describe HIV/AIDS projects that are working with men, but also projects that address other issues and problems relating to men such as gender identity, sexuality and violence. Case studies come from projects located in Morocco, Botswana, South Africa, Zambia, Mongolia, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Bulgaria and Belarus.
Who is this publication for?
It is intended for people or organisations who are starting HIV/AIDS work with men. Although it can be used in many contexts, Working with men aims primarily to support those planning to work in communities in developing countries.
