"Primary HIV/AIDS Care" is a practical guide for primary health care personnel in the clinical and supportive care of people with HIV/AIDS. This fourth edition has been updated with new developments in anti-retroviral therapy and the care of HIV-positive children. Relevant changes have been made to chapters focusing on general adult care, pregnancy, children, mother to child transmission, post-exposure prophylaxis, women and tuberculosis.

This is an essential manual for primary medical care personnel, counsellors and support practitioners. It is ideal for those working in developing and middle-income countries.

Dr Clive Evian is a primary care and community health physician. Professionally, he has been fully involved with the HIV/AIDS epidemic for the past fifteen years and he provides a freelance consulting service to the public, private and NGO sectors via his consulting firm AIDS Management and Support.

He is an honorary lecturer in the Department of Community Health at the University of the Witwatersrand, and has been a session doctor at the Johannesburg Hospital HIV Clinic for many years. Dr Evian has extensive experience in the public and private sector, and has written and published widely on various aspects of the HIV epidemic. He is also the author AIDS in the Workplace and a thirteen-part manual entitled Primary Clinical Care
