ICASO is pleased to announce the release of its new Vaccine Primer. This is the second Primer in the ICASO Vaccine Primer series, and is entitled: "The Science of HIV/AIDS Vaccines: An Introduction for Community Groups" It is a companion report to the first in the Primer series, entitled: "Developing Vaccines for HIV and AIDS: An Introduction for Community Groups".
"The Science of HIV/AIDS Vaccines: An Introduction for Community Groups" is an easy to understand and concise introduction to the scientific and medical aspects of vaccine development. Highlights of the Primer are a description of the workings of the immune system, the HIV virus and its replication process and how vaccines work, both generally and specifically, with regard to a potential HIV/AIDS vaccine. The Primer also contains a full glossary, and guide to further websites and sources. "The Science of HIV/AIDS Vaccines: An Introduction for Community Groups" has been written in lay terms, so that it is accessible to a very broad audience, while still relaying very relevant information.
"The Science of HIV/AIDS Vaccines: An Introduction for Community Groups" is available in both English and French in the "Vaccines" section of ICASO's website, at http://www.icaso.org. The Spanish version of the report will be posted at the website as soon as it is available.
