Popular TV and radio drama Soul City has produced an AIDS education pack that can be easily used by small businesses.
Independent tests have shown that the drama series has had a positive impact on attitudes towards HIV/AIDS, encouraging safer sexual practices and more supportive behaviour towards sufferers.
"The size of the epidemic, however, makes it imperative to use every opportunity to teach skills essential for survival," a Soul City spokesman says.
The Soul City HIV and AIDS Action Pack, which includes comics, posters, instruction books and videos, covers:
- transmission and prevention
- how to find out whether you have the virus or not
- what to do if you choose to be tested
- living positively and healthily with the virus
The spokesman says the materials can be used in informal learning situations by individuals, unions, government departments or companies.
