Oral Mucosal Vaccination Against HIV Infection: NIDCR

Substantial advances have been made in understanding the immunology of oral and nasopharyngeal mucosal tissues. To capitalize on this research in the fight against AIDS, the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) invites applications to investigate the use of the oral and nasopharyngeal mucosal immune system as a route for vaccination against HIV and associated opportunistic infections.
Sponsor:Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS); National Institutes of Health (NIH) and National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR).
Deadline:January 14, 2003 .
Deadline Note:Although not required, prospective applicants are asked to submit a letter of intent by December 15, 2002.
Eligibility:Applications may be submitted by domestic or foreign, for-profit or nonprofit organizations and public or private institutions, such as universities, colleges, hospitals, and laboratories; units of state and local governments; and eligible agencies of the federal government. The citizenship of the PI is unrestricted.
