amfAR Fellowships

Abstract: The mission of amfAR's Basic Research Program is to identify, fund, and advance innovative, creative, and timely research and research education projects in the basic science of HIV/AIDS. This goal is predicated on the belief that an understanding of the biology of HIV is the best means by which effective treatments and primary prevention measures, and an eventual cure, will be achieved.

An amfAR fellowship is a grant that encourages the postdoctoral investigator with limited experience in the field of HIV/AIDS to redirect or to embark on a career in HIV/AIDS research.

Sponsor: American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR)

Ref No: 64196

Deadline: May 07, 2003

Eligibility: A fellow applying to this program must be a postdoctoral staff member of a nonprofit institution and sponsored by an experienced faculty-level investigator of associate professor level or higher. Grants are awarded to nonprofit institutions; they are not awarded to individual investigators. Applicants need not be U.S. citizens.
