Overview

The focus of research within the department has been largely HIV related. It has reached acclaim for its work on multivitamin supplementation, breast feeding and antiretroviral therapy in reducing mother to child transimission of HIV. Subspecialty disciplines include neonatology, haematology, nephrology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, cardiology and neurology.The department is attached to King Edward VII hospital, but has in addition service and teaching links with RK Khan, Addington, Wentworth and Prince Mshiyeni Hospitals in the region.
