Description: Mr Patrick is a lecturer in Philosophy at a University in Zimbabwe, with a deep interest in HIV/AIDS and surrounding issues. Mr Patrick's course in Applied Ethics focuses on HIV/AIDS. He was a co-author on an article entitled: "Naming the Pandemic: The Pragmatuc and Ethical Foundations og the Shona HIV/AIDS Vocabulary". (Journal Zambezia, volume 29, number 2, 2002) and has presented a paper entitled: "Ethics and the Metaphors of HIV/AIDS among the Shona" (UNESCO Philosophy Day, 29 November 2003). Mr Tom has been awarded a research grant to investigate the problems encountered by caregivers with HIV-positive patients.
