The Demographic Impact of HIV/AIDS in South Africa

This CARE report provides a picture of the state of the HIV/AIDS epidemic and efforts to combat HIV/AIDS in South Africa by documenting indicators of prevention and treatment.

It details the potential impact of anti-retroviral therapy (ART), HIV incidence by demographic group, HIV prevalence based on sex and age, and prevention, treatment and mortality indicators. The report also projects the number of HIV-positive people, people with AIDS-related sickness, AIDS-related deaths, and the number of maternal orphans from 1990 to 2015.
