Overview
The HIV Prevention Research Unit of the Medical Research Council is involved in research focused around HIV prevention. This includes clinical trials on microbicides, behavioural intervention studies targeted at youth, studies on MTCT, improve management of STI's, conducting national HIV infection surveillance, providing HIV/STI education to communities, counselling on home-based care and HIV testing, basic science research to support development of AIDS vaccine.
